Still Growing: A Life of Purpose, Service, and Becoming is Farid Ghalili’ s personal story of a life shaped by change, faith, family, opportunity, and a willingness to step into the unknown. Born in Esfahan, Iran, Farid left his homeland at eleven years old with his family as they answered a call to serve the Bahá’í community. His childhood journey took him from Iran to India and Pakistan, where boarding school, new cultures, independence, and unexpected experiences shaped the young man he would become. Eventually, his journey brought him to America, where his education, family life, and professional career opened an entirely new chapter. Along the way, Farid discovered that life rarely follows the path we imagine. New opportunities brought unexpected challenges, friendships opened doors, and decisions made at one stage of life often shaped what came next. Through it all, family, faith, service, curiosity, and a willingness to embrace change remained important parts of his journey. But this is not simply a story about a career. It is a story about becoming, about leaving familiar places, building a family, serving others, and continually discovering that life can take you places you never expected to go. Volume One follows that journey from his birth on May 5, 1952, to May 27, 1990—from a young boy in Esfahan to a husband, father, professional, and community member beginning another new adventure with his family in Tracy, California.
